A gift that is a burden.

Just finishing off my next tract, it is gift themed as it is nearly Christmas. I have been reading up again on Mauss’s The Gift and Ted Purves What we want is free. I am interested in summing up the unease in exchanging gifts and in receiving unexpected gifts when we have nothing to give in return.

I would love your comments on gifts that have been a burden, maybe its an inheritance you didn’t want, clothes you will only wear when you meet up with the person who gives them or something expensive you felt you had to match.
